Wachira Wines is the premier Kenyan-American winery in the United States, founded in 2017 by Dr. Chris Wachira and based in Bay Area, California. Inspired by her dual Kenyan-American heritage, Wachira Wines was created to celebrate culture, cuisine, and community through wine. After struggling to find wines that complemented the bold, flavorful dishes of her upbringing, Dr. Chris crafted her first Cabernet Sauvignon to pair with her mother’s Kenyan stews. That moment became the foundation of the brand philosophy: Californian wines with a Kenyan accent.
Today, Wachira Wines is best known for its Safari Collection, an award-winning lineup inspired by the Safari Big Five and the Impala. With 33 industry medals, these wines stand out for their balance, approachability, and distinctive character. In 2024, Wachira Wines was featured at a U.S. State Department luncheon, marking its place on the global stage.
