Karen Wright brings over 30 years of experience in customer-focused client management, protocol gifting, fundraising and events. She is known as a collaborative, strategic-thinker, visionary and award-winning business leader.

Looking to “do some good in the world” ... she and her son Justin launched Blk Box Gifts in 2019 to bring joy with expertly curated, flawlessly executed, on-brand gifting for all occasions to a billion-dollar industry with few African American business owners.

As an entrepreneur, her track record of success is grounded in hard work, leading her to oversees a multi-level company known not just for their exquisitely curated gifts, but also, events and the gifting suites. From individual milestones to swag bag and distinctive corporate-volume gifting her company carefully sources luxury brands from around the globe.

Wright has had the privilege of working with high-profile celebrities, fortune 100 and 500 companies and socialites. Her company has curated gifts for President Barack Obama, TV Personality Sherri Sheppard, and Football legend Lawrence Taylor. Her company has been tied to such events as the Urban League Convention, NAACP Image Awards, Salute Her Awards, Grammy Awards, Country Music Awards, Diageo Brands, Nielson, IBM, I-Woman TV and American Express among others. Wright’s unique expertise has allowed her to be featured in newspapers, magazines and on television sharing tips on luxury gifting.

Her leadership and strategic business focus led her to achieve fellowship in the American Express Leadership Academy and be selected for the first cohort of the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black In Business program, a powerful network of entrepreneurs and strategic advisors to help guide business growth. She has extensive training in Leadership, Management, and Entrepreneurship. She is a graduate of Fisk University and studied for her master’s at NYU.

She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, The Links, Incorporated, Association of Fundraising Professionals and Women in Development. She has served on the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center Advisory Board, Girl Scouts of Connecticut Board, Women’s Council for the Danbury Chamber of Commerce, Rockland County Community Board and more.

When not wearing her entrepreneur hat and designing gifts, she enjoys her role as Vice President of Advancement and Executive Director of the FVSU Foundation at Fort Valley State University. She’s thankful to run a business where she can flex both her creative mind and business savvy, not merely one or the other.
